Privacy Policy

The full policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have wherever you live, including the U.S., Europe, and Brazil. Questions? Email us at hello@tipz.club.

Tipz Inc. ("Tipz," "we," "us," or "our") built Tipz so you can save the places you care about and explore them through people you trust, not through an algorithm. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

This policy applies to our mobile app, our website, and related communications (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. 

1. Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay address) from that service.

Content you create: places you save ("Tipz"), lists, photos, notes, Asks, and replies.

Photos and screenshots you add: when you add a Tip from a photo or screenshot, we access only the images you select. If a photo contains location data, we use it to help identify the place.

Contacts: if you choose to find or invite friends from your contacts, you select which contacts to use. We access only the contacts you select, to find them on Tipz or send them an invitation.

Location information: with your permission, we collect your device's precise location to show your position on the map, tag saved places, and power location-based search and filtering.

Usage activity: how you use the Service, including searches, taps, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visits.

Device and technical information: device type, operating system, and identifiers needed to operate and secure the Service.

Reports and support requests: information you send when you report content or a user, or when you contact us.

2. Precise location and other sensitive information

Several U.S. state privacy laws treat precise geolocation as Sensitive Personal Information.We collect your device's precise location only when you grant permission in your device settings, and we use it, along with location data in photos you add, only to power the map,search, and place-tagging features described above. We never use location data to build an advertising profile, and we never sell it.

You can turn off location permission at any time in your device settings. This limits map and location features but doesn't otherwise affect your account.

3. How AI is used with your information

Tipz uses artificial intelligence only to organize the places you add. For example, AIidentifies a place's name, category, city, and details from a photo, screenshot, place name,or pasted list. Tipz's AI does not recommend new places to you. 

Third-party AI provider. To read photos and screenshots, we use a third-party AI provider,currently OpenAI. Before we send your first photo or screenshot, we ask for your permission in the app. If you decline, you can still add places by name or by pasting a list.You can withdraw your permission at any time by emailing hello@tipz.club.

Our AI provider processes your images only to provide this service to Tipz. It may keep them for a limited period for security and abuse prevention, as allowed by our agreement,and it does not use them to train its models. Tipz does not use your content to train shared or public AI models without your separate, explicit consent.

4. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including saving, organizing, and finding your Tipz.

Show you places and Asks saved by people in your network when you search for them, never as an algorithmically ranked feed.

Help you find and invite friends you select from your contacts.

Review reports, enforce our Terms of Service, and apply blocks between users.

Provide customer support and respond to your requests.

Improve the Service, including through aggregated, de-identified research and analysis.

Detects, investigates, and prevents fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

Comply with legal obligations.

5. Public profiles and your privacy settings

By default, your profile is public. Your name, profile photo, Tipz, lists, and Asks can be seen by other Tipz users, and by anyone who opens a link to your profile or lists that is shared outside the app.

You can make your profile private in Settings. When your profile is private, only your connections can see your Tipz, lists, and Asks. Your name and profile photo stay visible so people can find you and send you a connection request.

Users you block can't see your profile or content, and you won't see theirs. We may also use content in aggregated, de-identified form to understand overall trends on the Service. 

6. Businesses on Tipz (coming soon)

Tipz plans to offer business accounts that let businesses send updates to users who have saved them. This feature is not available yet. When it launches, businesses will only be able to reach users who have saved them, never users who haven't chosen them. We will update this Privacy Policy and notify you before the feature goes live.

7. Sharing with third parties

We share information only with:

Service providers that support the Service on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, email and SMS delivery, and customer support. They are bound by contract to use information only to provide those services.

Our AI provider, as described in Section 3.

Sign-in providers (Apple and Google), only as needed to sign you in.

Legal and safety authorities, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, or needed to protect the rights and safety of Tipz or its users or to investigate suspected wrongdoing.

A successor entity, in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the same commitments described in this policy.

Once business accounts launch, sharing with businesses will be limited as described inSection 6. Tipz does not sell your personal information, and has not done so in the preceding 12 months.

8. Cookies, analytics, and tracking

Our website and app use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and measure how the Service is used in aggregate.We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising. If we ever use third-party tools that count as "sharing" under state law, we will provide a clear opt-out, such as a "Your Privacy Choices" link.

9. Your privacy choices

In the app, you can edit your profile, make your profile private, block users, and delete your account in Settings.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to: 

Know what personal information we have collected about you and get a copy.

Correct inaccurate information.

Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.

Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Tipz does not sell personal information, and will provide an opt-out if this ever changes.

Limit the use of Sensitive Personal Information, including precise location.

Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise these rights, email hello@tipz.club. We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization.

European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland. We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), with your consent (for example, precise location and AI processing of your images), for our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and improving the Service), and to comply with legal obligations. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. When we transfer your information to the United States, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Users in Brazil (LGPD)

If you are in Brazil, Brazil's General Data Protection Law (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados, Law No. 13,709/2018) applies to our processing of your personal data. Tipz Inc. is the controller of your data.

Legal bases. We process your data to perform our contract with you; with your consent, for precise location and AI processing of your images; for our legitimate interests, such as security, fraud prevention, and improving the Service; and to comply with legal obligations.

Your rights. Under Article 18 of the LGPD, you can ask us to:

Confirm whether we process your data, and give you access to it.

Correct incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data.

Anonymize, block, or delete data that is unnecessary, excessive, or processed in violation of the LGPD.

Transfer your data to another service provider (portability).

Delete data processed with your consent. 

Tell you which public and private entities we share your data with.

Tell you that you can refuse consent, and what happens if you do.

Withdraw your consent at any time.

International transfer. Your data is stored and processed in the United States. We transfer it using safeguards permitted by the LGPD, such as standard contractual clauses approved by Brazil's National Data Protection Authority (ANPD).

Contact. For any request or question about your data, contact our data protection contact at hello@tipz.club. You also have the right to file a complaint with the ANPD.

11. Data retention and account deletion

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. When you do, we remove your profile,Tipz, lists, and Asks from the Service and disassociate them from you.

We may keep limited information after deletion when needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or prevent fraud. Residual copies may remain temporarily in encrypted backups until they are deleted on our normal backup schedule.

12. Age requirement

Tipz is only for people 18 and older, because of its bars and nightlife categories and user-generated content. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under18. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will delete it. If you believe a minor is using Tipz, contact us at hello@tipz.club.

13. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. If you keep using theService after a change takes effect, you accept the revised policy.
